searchinputfield.C demonstrates how to use on_validate() to take action on the contents of the search input field, whether the search results get typed manually or selected from the search popup.

on_validate()'s callback gets invoked, as usual, after the input field loses keyboard input focus. It also gets invoked when a search result gets selected from the search popup, even though the keyboard input focus remains in the search input field.
